Mmmm...I Like Rice Cereal :-)

Here are some pictures I got today of Jacob eating his cereal! I was the "feeder" and the photographer, but I think they came out well! He is really loving his cereal!

Finally a House Update!!!!

Finally here are some pictures I took at the house yesterday afternoon, testing out the new camera!

Here is the shower, all insulated and ready for plywood!

Here is the driveway...we have a driveway! Yippee! Also the "fake" doors on the garage!

Here is a shot into the kitchen and the rest of the house (bedrooms and bathrooms!)

Here is the back deck...you can see the stairs on one end there on the right; there is an identical set at the other end.

Yesterday John got the can lights wired in the covered part of the back deck.

A shot of the stairs at the side of the deck.

Finally the hook ups for our washer and dryer! Woo hoo!

I Know it's Been a While....

since I've posted, but we have had camera issues. First the flash wouldn't work and we realized, thanks to Justin, it was because the flash had a nice, large crack in it. Fixing it would probably cost as much as buying a new one, not to mention taking longer, so we finally found the camera we wanted to buy. First I got it through Dell, at a much cheaper price, so I paid the extra for fast shipping. It was supposed to be here tomorrow, but they just notified me it wouldn't be shipped until the end of NEXT week. So I went ahead and cancelled that order and got it off Amazon. It said it guaranteed delivery tomorrow....so I can finally get some pictures posted! I found an old camera in the closet and may try it; we'll see how it goes. Justin came home sick from school this afternoon so there may not be much picture taking time. But I hope to get more tomorrow...we are getting plumbing, we have a driveway, and "temporary" doors on the house. Also, the painting should be starting on Monday! Woo! We hope all is well with you all!

Reno Balloon Races...Day Two!

Here we are for day number two of the Great Reno Balloon Races! It was supposed to be "Special Shape Balloons" on Sunday, but all we saw were the same balloons from the day before! It was a little disappointing, but we sure had a good time! Even getting up at 3am again...Just seeing the Dawn Patrol is worth it. John got some video of it and we hope to get it on the blog ASAP! Jacob didn't even seem to mind getting up at 3am again...he was a great sport!

We're Moving Right Along...

Here are some pictures taken earlier this week of the inside of the house.

This is a picture of the kitchen island, facing into the kitchen. This side will have a small breakfast bar that should house 3 stools.

This is a shot of the island from inside of the kitchen. There will be a sink on the far left which will be wonderful! We have one in our island now and I just couldn't live without it! We talked about either having a second oven (which I will have someday!) or the sink/garbage disposal in the island, and I had to pick the sink. I do all my prep work at the island and having the sink right there is awesome!

This is where our fireplace will go. John built a shelf on top that we are hoping will house our telelvision. Then we not only have it a bit higher up so you can see it from all over the front of the house, but it will save room on the floor! It will be nice ot have that room! You can also put pictures or plants or what not on top instead!

I Think We Have Colors.....Update

I think this combination is the winner. The brown on the long boards in the middle will be the body of the house. The Sage color at the top will be the "main" trim, around the house and windows. I think I got a better picture here that really shows the true colors. I am going to do Jacob's room in a sage or soft olive as well; so it should really tie in to the house nicely! We may do some browns and olives and sages on different walls in the house, and probably do one of those colors in Justin's room as well!

A Shower with a View...

This is the view from the Master Bathroom shower window! Hee! I love the idea of having a window in the shower, to get all that steam out on a hot day, but it's also nice to have a view! I have to stand on tip toe to see out, but it's worth it! And the glass is one of those "bumpy" type (like speed bumps from top to bottom) so it's blurry if you try to see in! Not that I expect any peeping Toms.......

We Have a Shingled Roof!!! Woo hoo!

Here are some pictures of the roofers working on our roof! They were about a half a day behind due to the high winds we had the day they began. They couldn't work on it for more than half a day that first day!

Here is a shot of the back of the house, while Jacob and I were on our daily morning walk!

These were taken today. Yippee, the roof is done! John and Bob were working on the stairs for the back deck; there will be one on each side of the back deck.

I think I know what I am going to be for Halloween...

This isn't even the best picture! He sticks his tongue out so far, he really, really looks like.....Gene Simmons from KISS!!! I was joking around one day that I thought it would be funny to dress him up like Gene for Halloween! His tongue, when he really sticks it out (which is super often), goes down to his clothes! He LOVES to stick his tongue out. John is worried he is going to sunburn it! Hee! One day I noticed a speck of lint on his tongue, from his blanket, and I couldn't get it off because his tongue was dry from sticking out!!!! So if anyone knows where to get a baby sized KISS outfit...let me know!!!!

Watch Out Third Grade!!!! Here I Come!!!

Today is Justin's first day of the 3rd grade! He has two new teachers this year, Mrs. Ward and Mrs. Avery. I was able to meet Mrs. Ward today, and only saw Mrs. Avery, but they both looked very nice and excited to start a new school year! Justin did notice he had a few friends in his class, so he was excited! Unfortunately one of his best friends, Tyson, wasn't in his class, but we hope to have him over soon so the boys can spend some time together. Justin, Jacob and I walked to school, and we are planning on walking to pick him up. We had a fun time finding his classroom and seeing old teachers etc. I look forward to hearing all about his first day!

The Roof is on it's Way!!!

Today the roofing material arrived!!! It should take a day or two for the roof to be done. The black that you see on the "point" of the roof is what seals it, so if it rains we shouldn't leak!! The shingles are what are in the bags. I'm so excited!! We've ordered our cabinets & things are really starting to take shape!

Here is a shot from the back of the house.

Another Victory!!!

Justin won another race this weekend!!! It sure was close. Trevor, who came in second, sure gives Justin a run for his money. They both are stiff competition for each other. There are two races left in the season and if Justin can win the next one he will be a lock for winning the championship. He's getting closer to getting that hat, jacket and glass trophy at the annual banquet in January!!!

On the Move!

Jacob has really begun to LOVE his gym! He used to just do tummy time in it and he didn't love it too much, but now that he can move around, he loves it! You can turn your back for a minute and turn around because he's giggling and there he is....out of the gym and on the floor!

The Beginning of Paint!

Here is John painting up the trim on the side of the house!

Here is the beginning of paint going on, some trim! It's a color called Carriage Door. It's a brownish red; a little more brown than red. It is also going to be on the front door. We are still choosing the paint for the body and other trim, but we do know the body will be a brown, to look like wood, and the other trim will be an olive color. Yippee!

It DOES taste like chicken!

I finally got a picture last night of Jacob sucking on his foot! He just found out he could do that yesterday! :-)

Friday, August 15, 2008

Um...Tastes Like Chicken???

Today we went by the house to see how it was coming along! While we were there, Jacob showed us something for the first time..... Jacob wants to tell you himself...

Hi everyone!! Watch what I can do....see my foot???

It's just a regular foot.....

Now see how I can pull it up towards my face....such flexibility!!! (Don't try this at home)
Mmm! Tastes like chicken! My mom tried getting a picture of my foot actually in my mouth, and it was, but this was the best she could do!

Another Win for Justin!!!

The NNKC hosts the Annual Rick Jerome Memorial Night Race at the track in Reno. It's tons of fun! Practice is in the morning, until noon, and the racing starts at 4. (Usually it starts at 9:30 am). The racing goes on until around 1 am, and then they have the awards ceremony after. This year was no different, except they added a bouncy house for the kids! It was lots of fun! Jacob and I left around 6 pm, but the boys didn't get home until after 3 am! Yowzers!

Here is a picture of Justin, winning another race! Instead of the regular type trophy the racers who placed got a beautiful plaque. I'll have to try and get a picture of that! So now it seems Justin is AHEAD in points in the race for the championship! He sure wants to win!

Our Big Night Out

We went to the River Ranch Lodge in Tahoe City for dinner to celebrate my 36th birthday and my parents 25th wedding anniversary. We all had such a wonderful time!

This was taken at the house before we left for dinner. Bob and Linda watched Jacob and Justin so we could have an "adult dinner out". It was a good thing too....we spent over 2 hours at the restaurant! We got there a bit early so we had a cocktail in the bar area. It was a lot of fun and we got to chat about the restaurant and the views!

Mom took this picture of John and I at the table! We were all deciding what to order, everything looked so delicious! One thing we didn't have to worry about was what to pick off the wine list. Mom and David brought Silver Oak Alexander Cabernet for our celebration dinner. It was delicious!
We decided to share 3 appetizers, since we couldn't make up our minds! We had the steamed artichoke with garlic butter.......

The seared ahi tuna crusted with sesame seeds (my favorite for sure!!!!)

and the Heirloom tomato appetizer (it was a special for this day) with buffalo mozzarella cheese and fresh basil. It really was delicious and I believe it to be my mom's favorite!

This was the beautiful view of the river from our window side table. The waiter opened the windows by us so that we could hear the sound of the river and even feel some of the spray coming through just a bit. It was a wonderful sensation!

We all chose the filet mignon with Gilroy Garlic sauce as our entree. It was very delicious! We ate every bite! For dessert we all had something different. David had cheesecake, John had a chocolate truffle cake, Mom had the fresh fruit cobbler and I had a coffee ice cream mud pie. It was delicious! We also had after dinner drinks which was a fun, fancy addition!

Here are John and I....perfectly content after a wonderful meal, and even better company! (Not to mention KILLER wine!!!!!)
